Youth in Partnership with Parents for Empowerment

Youth in Partnership with Parents for Empowerment (YiPPE) is a leadership development opportunity for youth with disabilities and their parents to learn about the transition process in a unique way.
YiPPE is a group of youth and their parents who meet together five times during the year. They will hear from speakers and take part in hands-on activities in parallel programs centered around transition. While some topics may overlap, parents will be able to enjoy their own sessions while their youth are learning similar information in a youth-friendly format.

Transition Planning for Employment: How to find and keep employment with assistance from DVR

This is the 2nd in a series of Web Conferences titled: The Future is Bright: Keys to Successful Transition Information for Families. This session is focused on the transition journey and employment. The vision of employment is not a one person task, collaboration is KEY! For some students more than others, it truly takes a village to get to our desired outcomes. The Wisconsin Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR), local Schools, and Aging and Disabilities Resource Centers (ADRCs), can all work closely with you and your family to create powerful opportunities for employment. Moving into the adult system with all of the agencies and partners, can be overwhelming and confusing. It is not easy to determine who does what. This session will provide information and resources to assist your family in the transition planning process.

The next and last session is April 20,2016.

The Future is Bright

This page is a work in progress. It is based on a series of three web conferences titled "The Future is Bright: Keys to Successful Transition; Information for Families." The conferences are a collaboration of CESA 9 Wisconsin Statewide Parent Educator Initiative (WSPEI) Coordinator, Evelyn Azbell and Northern Region Wisconsin Transition Improvement Grant (WITIG) Coordinator, Kathy Tuttle. Resources and information from each conference will be posted within the week after each is held. The conferences will be recorded so those unable to participate can listen at their convenience.
